Ageing Community
Our ageing population needs increased services
Seniors services
Quite simply, a large ageing population needs a significantly equipped community, along with a fleet of support services, ready to care for our valued members. And that is exactly what needs to be put in place for the increasingly ageing community retiring on the coast.
Urgent requirement
Our electorate requires multiple aged care facilities, additional doctor’s clinics, an upgraded hospital, allied health services and workers to deliver those services. Those essential workers will need housing, their families will also need education, recreation and health and medical services. Developing community around services is something that has been completely overlooked by the standing State Member and not addressed by wannabe incumbents.
Additionally, a growing seniors community will have family visiting from time to time so it’s imperative to progress with additional accommodation facilities, of ranging price points, to be developed.
All this requires strategy, plans and infrastructure projects to start this election term. The ball has been dropped, and the bag fumbled. We need to attract organisations who are going to build aged care facilities, developers who’ll source land and build accommodation, and professionals who will bring their allied health businesses to town.
The State Member needs to work with all levels of government and appropriate businesses to identify land parcels, attract developers and service providers, and create a plan for the public services required to support our community.
